Our Client is looking for a Production Chemist, on a contract basis, location in Aberdeen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively provide specialist advice on oilfield production chemistry and flow assurance related matters to prevent operational upsets and solve problems
  • Manage the performance of production chemicals on company facilities, maintain associated chemical management documentation and assure injection compliance in the field
  • Develop direct laboratory/ field trials to assess new chemicals or improve treatments
  • Provide Production Chemistry input to the design and operation of development and decommissioning projects

 

Specific tasks associated with the principal accountabilities include (but not limited to);

  • Attending relevant facility and multi-discipline meetings and liaising with offshore facility teams
  • Generating monthly production chemical reports and communicating chemical performance against KPIs
  • Scale management via produced water surveillance and organizing scale squeeze/dissolver treatments
  • Requesting chemical permit variations
  • Qualifying new production chemicals
  • Initiating the Management of Change process
  • Organizing appropriate laboratory analyses and interpreting their results
  • Liaising with company technical experts and chemical suppliers to troubleshoot Production Chemistry problems
  • Provide relevant fluid property information to the business
  • Administering the company Chemical Approval process
  • Execute work with a continuous improvement mindset

Education, Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum BSc or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering
  • Experience in oilfield process chemistry operations or development projects.
  • Working knowledge of liquid hydrocarbon and gas processing/operations
  • In depth knowledge of oilfield flow assurance issues and oilfield chemical treatments is essential
  • Ability to interface and communicate with other technical disciplines
  • SQUEEZE modelling and thermodynamic scale, wax and hydrate modelling would be beneficial
